ARTE Europe Weekly: Does Europe Need a Supertax for the Super-Rich?

Europe’s super-rich are getting even more wealthy, while the squeezed middle and working classes are being asked to tighten their belts. The French economist Gabriel Zucman has proposed a wealth tax to help reduce France’s budget deficit. Although rejected by the Paris government, the idea has gathered pace and found support across the EU. Could it help ease Europe’s financial woes? This programme is produced by the European platform ARTE and available in 10 languages through the European media partnership EMOVE Hub. The hub is coordinated by ARTE and includes Balkan Insight (BIRN), Sinopsis (BIRN Romania), El País (ES), Gazeta Wyborcza (PL), Internazionale (IT), Ir (LV), Kathimerini (GR), Le Soir (BE) and Telex (HU). The partnership receives EU-funding following DG CNECT’s call for European Media Hubs within the framework of the EU’s Multimedia Actions.
